a bump in the road.

i'm back at full-time caregiving. mom took a fall. surgery for a hip replacement was last friday and all went well. she's home now as she wanted nothing to do with a rehab facility. this is ok because i can be here-- and we'll get home healthcare again. but gone are the days where i could leave for a couple hours at a time without worry.

today beings the flurry of people coming in and out of the house.... we begin with the nurse... then the social worker, the OT and of course, the PT. nothing new with the process so guess that's good.

it's safe to say i was hoping to stay outta this game for awhile longer. the freedom of coming and going only 4 times a day was pretty sweet.

oh well.

A fall? OH NO! Glad to hear that surgery went well though!

Thinking of you and keeping you all in prayer.

I still haven't packed your box, but will get myself into "hurry up" gear as I read this post - I know your Mom will be looking for more to read during rehab!

Sorry to hear about the bump in the road. Just when you think there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel, life happens. Maybe when things get into a pattern, you can find yourself sneaking away for even some short intervals. Free time is such a valuable commodity in caregiving and there just doesn't seem to be enough of it.

Thinking about you and hoping you and your mother are doing okay with this latest turn of events. (((hugs)))

Oh sweetie, I am so sorry. Over the 32 years I knew Helen she had 4 hip replacements, so I know what you are going through. At least this time you know there will be an end to this in a few months. Make sure she is doing that PT.
